Gary CarboneRockaway, NJA Great Teacher Comes AlongIn late 2005 or early 2006, a friend told me that he was being treated by an interesting doctor of TCM, who also knew something about martial arts. We went to his house where we drank some tea and listened to Dr. Kan as he explained the entire history of Xingyiquan (a Chinese traditional martial art) to us. When we left to go home, I was amazed that over three hours had passed and I was very excited that the doctor had invited me to come back and learn some “health exercise” with him.Now it is 2010, and I remember that day very clearly. The impression that I had when I first met Dr. James Kan—the feeling that I had, stills burns strongly to this day. A refined, intelligent and cordial man who has patiently taught us, generously sharing his time and experience. He is a martial arts master who grasps the history and essence of neigong, and who can demonstrate and teach others. In the past, I had been able to learn martial arts very quickly, having had a very good teacher of traditional Chinese martial art. But when I began with Dr. James Kan, it was time for me to become a beginner again, and to learn the foundations behind true internal martial art—for the first time in my life.I came to Dr. James Kan and Yiquan seeking to improve my martial arts skills, but I have received much more important, something we call Buddha Heart.
Jaime Morrell- Jackson.NJ "I have been practicing martial arts for thirteen years. …….Studying with Master Kan has been a treasure of information. I am continually delighted with the clarity and insight of his teaching as he relates different aspects of martial art and Yiquan. I look foreword to the coming years."
